The area of Public Health includes studies of health, morbidity and mortality in the population as a whole, how health and ill health vary between different groups and how the state of health changes during people’s life cycles. Factors that affect public health include social and societal structures, people’s conditions, opportunities and actions and how these interact.

Both studies aimed at a more general understanding of these processes and phenomena as well as studies aimed at designing, following up and evaluating measures aimed at preventing disease and promoting health are welcome. Furthermore, studies aimed at identifying and estimating the significance of risk factors and protective factors for disease and ill health are welcome.

Neither clinical treatment studies, basic biomedical research nor basic biomedical mechanistic research are within Forte’s areas of responsibility.
