The National Centre of Excellence Investments Conference
he Swedish Government has invested more than 5 billion SEK in strong research environments, such as Centres of Excellence. The conference will discuss the merits of the ten year programme establishing Centres of Excellence at the Swedish higher education institutions (HEIs), funded by the Swedish Research Council, Formas, Forte and Vinnova. The aim was to foster internationally competitive research, sustainable research environments, and internationally competitive HEIs in Sweden.
The conference is aimed at politicians, research funding bodies, HEIs and researchers that have been part of, or are interested in Centre of Excellence programmes.
We will discuss whether these investments have strengthened Sweden’s international position as a strong research nation. There will also be a European perspective on governmental Centre of Excellence programmes. At the end of the day, we hope to have worked out whether Sweden should have a new programme for establishing Centres of Excellence at HEIs.
The following centres will present a final evaluation of the ten-year funding programme to establish Centres of Excellence at the Swedish Higher Educational Institutions:
- Linnaeus Centres
- Forte Centres of Excellence
- Berzelii Centres
- VinnExcellence Centres
The conference is free of charge, and will be held in English.
