Elderly and ageing
Public health is improving and we are living longer. But while some older people can have a good and healthy life, life can be more difficult for others. Increasing knowledge about older people is important to improve their living conditions and to be able to meet the societal challenges we face.
What research is conducted?
Research about elderly and ageing is a broad and interdisciplinary field. This includes, for example, studies of
- the diseases of ageing
- the living conditions and role of the elderly in society
- involuntary loneliness and the mental health of the elderly
- the boundaries and interactions between healthcare and elderly care
- the challenges and opportunities of welfare technology.
The target group that the research focuses on is primarily people aged 65 and over, but the research can also concern those close the elderly person, such as relatives and staff in healthcare and care.
