The transition to accessible, person-centred care
Sweden’s healthcare system is undergoing a transformation to better meet future needs. Forte has been commissioned by the government to lead an initiative that includes both research and development to support the transition to accessible, person-centred care.
The aim of this transition is to create more accessible, equitable, and locally delivered care, where patients experience greater continuity and have more involvement in their care. In the 2024/25 Research Bill (proposition 2024/25:60), Forte was tasked with supporting this shift through research and development over a four-year period.
The initiative will have a clear focus on collaboration – both within different parts of the healthcare system and with other key stakeholders. It is particularly important that regional and municipal health and social care services are well coordinated and work seamlessly together.
Forte is currently developing a strategic framework and preparing a call for project proposals on research into person-centred care.
