Fields of research
Forte funds research within three main fields: health, working life and welfare. This is research that concerns us all and gives us knowledge to develop, both individually and as a society. Here you can read more about our fields of research and how they can contribute to the society of tomorrow.
-
National research programmes
Forte is responsible for five national research programmes initiated by the Swedish government. The aim of these ten-year programmes is to strengthen knowledge in strategically important areas of society, help bridge critical knowledge gaps and increase the societal impact of research findings.
-
Areas of coordination
Forte is commissioned by the Swedish Government to coordinate the national research in five areas: children and young people, ageing, disability, social research on alcohol and narcotics and international migration and ethnic relations (IMER).
-
Assignments and initiatives
Here you can read about assignments and initiatives in specific areas that are not included in our national research programmes or in our coordination areas. These can be both temporary and permanent assignments.
-
International collaboration
Forte’s main areas – health, working life and welfare – include important societal issues from both Swedish and international perspectives. We collaborate with organisations in several countries on various initiatives related to our areas.
-
Policy frameworks and objectives
National objectives and political frameworks within health, working life, and welfare provide important foundations for Forte's work. We strive to achieve the government’s goals, including the implementation of Agenda 2030 in Sweden, open science, and the fulfilment of gender equality policy objectives.
-
Science communication
Forte disseminates knowledge by compiling research results in an easily accessible way, creating meeting places for dialogue and collaboration between researchers, practitioners and other actors, and by communicating current issues within Forte's areas.
