European collaboration

Forte funds Swedish researchers in European research collaborations, and participates in various research programmes, committees, projects and networks in the European research arena. Read more about our European collaboration below.

Horizon Europe – the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation

Horizon Europe is the EU framework programme for research and innovation, for the period 2021–202 7. Forte is a member of the Swedish organisation for Horizon 2020 and participates in two programme committees. We highlight current knowledge needs in our areas, health, working life and welfare. The common thread in Forte’s work in Horizon Europe is the social dimension of sustainable development. The principle “no one left behind” in the 2030 Agenda is an important reminder when research and innovation initiatives are designed.

Science Europe

Science Europe is an association of research funding bodies and research performing organisations in Europe, where Forte has an active role. The association work to strengthen European research and facilitate cooperation between different research actors. At the moment Forte is active in three working groups; Open Science, Research Culture and Communication.

NORFACE – Social and behavioural sciences research

The NORFACE network (New Opportunities for Research Funding Agency Co-operation in Europe) consists of a partnership of national research funding bodies from twenty European countries focusing on research in the social and behavioural sciences. Forte and the Swedish Research Council are Sweden’s representatives in NORFACE.

CHANSE – Collaboration of Humanities and Social Sciences in Europe

Together with 26 other research funding organisations from 24 countries, Forte is part of the EU funded collaboration project CHANSE. The main goal of the CHANSE programme is to announce a call for international research projects: “Transformations: Social and cultural dynamics in the digital age”. Due to the big interest in the first Call, CHANSE in collaboration with the NORFACE network, announced additional Call for international research projects that Forte is a part of: Enhancing well-being for the future.

Previous framework programme Horizon 2020

Forte is involved in two initiatives that started within EU’s previous framework programme (2014-2020).

• Joint Programme More Years Better Lives (JPI MYBL) – Research about the challenges and opportunities arising from a growing proportion of older people in our population.
