Policy frameworks and objectives
National objectives and political frameworks within health, working life, and welfare provide important foundations for Forte's work. We strive to achieve the government’s goals, including the implementation of Agenda 2030 in Sweden, open science, and the fulfilment of gender equality policy objectives.

Agenda 2030
Agenda 2030 is an action plan that UN member states have agreed to follow. The action plan contains goals for the transition to a sustainable society for people, the planet, and prosperity. Forte's research areas are central to socially sustainable development and the major societal challenges that need to be addressed in order for Sweden to contribute to the goals of Agenda 2030.
Gender Equality
According to Forte's instructions, Forte is to "integrate a gender equality perspective into the agency's activities and promote gender equality in the allocation of research funds," as well as "work to ensure that a gender and sex perspective is included in the research the agency funds, when applicable."

Open Science
Results from publicly funded research should be accessible to everyone. Like other public funding agencies, Forte has a mandate from the 2020 research policy proposition to drive and support this development.
