In December, the new annual calls for project grants and postdoc grants will open. The calls welcome all applications within Forte’s overall responsibilities of health, working life and welfare.

Starting with the 2022 call period, the annual open call for proposals will be divided into two separate calls: an annual call for proposals for project grants, as well as an annual call for proposals for national and international postdoc grants.

Read more about the new calls for proposals under the respective headings below. More information, including instructions for application, are published when the calls open in December.

Project grants 2022

The purpose of the annual call for project grants is to enable researchers to analyse and contribute to the understanding of a specific research area or question. Projects are prioritised based on the scientific quality and feasibility of the research proposal as well as its potential to achieve societal impact in a short or long-term perspective.

Application in a single step

From the 2022 call period, the application process for project grants is being transformed into a one-step process. A complete application must have been submitted to Forte by the deadline of the call. Applications are assessed by ten review panels with different focus areas.

If you already have an ongoing project grant from Forte

If you already are the project leader of an ongoing project grant from Forte, you are ineligible to apply for a new grant in the annual call for project grants. The restriction applies regardless of the call in which the funding was granted (with the exception of international collaboration calls). The restriction applies only to project grants.

Read more about the restrictions in Forte’s news article about the reform, and on the page “Questions and answers about the reform of the annual open call”.

Time plan

The call opens: 2 December 2021
Deadline for applications: 3 February 2022

Postdoc grants 2022

Forte’s annual call for two-year postdoc grants is targeted at researchers in the beginning of their careers. The grant can be applied for up to two years after completing a doctoral degree and corresponds to a full-time salary.

Three types of grants

Three grant types are available within the call: national postdoc, outgoing postdoc and incoming postdoc. National postdoc is aimed at researchers in Sweden who want to spend their postdoc period in Sweden, outgoing postdoc is aimed at researchers in Sweden who want to spend their postdoc period abroad, and incoming postdoc is aimed at researchers abroad who want to spend their postdoc period in Sweden.

Application and assessment

Applications are made in a one-step process. Applications are assessed by three review panels divided into Forte’s main areas of responsibility: health, working life and welfare.

Time plan
