More than 1,000 applicants to receive decision on 26 October
When Forte’s call Project grants 2026 closed in March, more than 1,000 applications had been submitted. The assessment process is now nearing completion, and on 26 October, applicants will be notified which projects will receive funding.

In Forte’s annual project grant call, researchers are free to formulate research questions within all of Forte’s areas – health, working life and welfare. This year’s call closed in March, and the assessment process will soon be completed.
– This year, we received 1,111 applications, which is around 50 more than last year. This means that competition is very strong, and we are now in the final stage of the assessment process, identifying the applications that are considered to have the highest scientific quality and the greatest potential to contribute new knowledge and societal benefit, says Sofie Wallerström, coordinating Senior Research Officer.
The applications are reviewed by several review panels, comprising both researchers and representatives from society with expertise in Forte’s areas. They assess which applications best meet the criteria of the call and provide the Board with the basis for its decisions.
– Around 100 people have been involved in reviewing the applications. Their work is, of course, very time-consuming, but their contribution is absolutely invaluable, says Emilie Löfgren-Jarl, coordinating Research Officer.
Forte’s largest recurring call
The project grant call is Forte’s largest annual call, both in terms of funding and resources, and involves almost all of the agency’s research officers.
Right now, we are looking forward to more research that can contribute to tomorrow's more equal and socially sustainable society.

Head of Research
– For us, work on the call continues throughout the year, as we continuously evaluate and develop it. But right now, we are looking forward to more research that can contribute to tomorrow's more equal and socially sustainable society, says Cecilia Beskow, Head of Research at Forte.
Decisions in the call will be published on Monday 26 October. All applicants will then receive notification through the Prisma application system, and granted applications will be published on the call’s webpage.
Applicants to the Starting grants 2026 and the Collaboration in practice for mental health 2026 will also receive their decisions on 26 October.
What happens after you submit a proposal?
Once you have submitted your application to Forte, it will go through several stages of review. If the application meets the conditions of the call, it will be forwarded to Forte’s review panels for assessment. You will receive an email when the decision is available in Prisma.
