The decision has now been made in Forte’s new call Visiting researcher grants USA 2026. Six project leaders at five Swedish higher education institutions will share just over SEK 11 million to invite and collaborate with researchers based in the United States.

When the call Visiting Researchers USA 2026 closed in January, Forte had received 25 applications. Six applicants have now been granted funding of between SEK 1.3 million and SEK 1.9 million to invite a researcher from a US research institution to join their project. The research visit will last between six and twelve months.

– The aim of this call is to contribute to collaboration and knowledge exchange between the US and Swedish research communities. I am very pleased that through these visiting research grants we can offer an environment where current and long-term significant research questions can be further developed and and where knowledge is put to use, says Cecilia Beskow, head of research at Forte.

From young people and digitalisation to migration and disability

The visiting researchers will be part of projects that span over several of Forte’s areas of responsibility. They address children’s development in a digitalised world, migration and working life in urban environments, and sexual and reproductive health beyond Agenda 2030. They also include research on health among adults with cerebral palsy, gender-based violence, and how relationships are formed in everyday life for people with cognitive disabilities.

The ambition is that this initiative will contribute to mutual and long-term knowledge exchange within Forte’s areas.

– By welcoming visiting researchers to Sweden, we believe we are laying the foundation for collaborations that can continue beyond the research visit itself. The ambition is that this initiative will contribute to mutual and long-term knowledge exchange within Forte’s areas, says Cecilia Beskow.
