Partnership for an inclusive and sustainable development

As part of the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, Horizon Europe, a new European Partnership for Social Transformation and Resilience (STR) is being prepared. It is one of nine new partnerships to be launched under the Horizon Europe Strategic Plan 2025–2027.

Forte has decided to participate in the planned partnership that aims to promote inclusive and sustainable development, while strengthening Europe’s social and economic resilience in a time of major transitions – driven by climate and environmental change, technological development, demographic shifts, and unexpected crises.

“The importance of international collaboration is highlighted in the Swedish government’s latest research and innovation bill. Since the STR initiative aligns very well with several of Forte’s areas of responsibility, we see great potential to connect these national efforts with research at the European level,” says Tove Hammarberg, Senior Research Officer at Forte.

Starting in 2027, joint calls and other research and innovation activities are planned across four interlinked areas:

  • Supporting the modernisation of social protection systems and essential services
  • Shaping the future of work
  • Fostering education and skills development
  • Contributing to a fair transition towards climate neutrality
