The area Social relations covers studies on the interaction between individuals, between social groups and their positions and relations towards each other. Research on relationships within families and between friends, children and adolescents development and socialization, violence and assaults as well as exclusionary processes and marginalization is covered by the panel.

Research within this area also includes studies of life conditions and mental health during childhood and adolescence, the living situation for people with disabilities and the conditions for the elderly. Research on ethnic relations, the situation for disabled people, violence in close relationships and assaults against children is also included.
