A variety of activities and projects are contained within the EU framework programme for research and innovation, Horizon 2020. Here you can read about the projects that Forte is actively engaged in.
Program Committees to meet societal challenges
Forte is involved in programme committees for two societal challenges within Horizon 2020:
Societal Challenge 1: Health, demographic change and wellbeing
Societal Challenge 6: Inclusive, innovative and reflective societies
Staff at Forte hold positions as assisting experts and is assisting National Contact Points (NPC) for these two societal challenges. In the program committees, we have a responsibility to present Sweden’s views on the implementation of the Framework Programme. Together with Vinnova and the Swedish Research Council, we have a responsibility to inform about calls for proposals in these areas.
COFAS – A unique programme for internationalisation
Forte’s International Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme (COFAS) is a programme that will create opportunities for collaboration and exchange of knowledge between researchers and institutions in different countries. The program is aimed at researchers who are in an early stage in their career, both in Sweden and in other countries. COFAS is supported by the Marie Sklodowska-Curie programme under the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Development (FP7).
European networks – Increasing national and regional cooperation
ERA-NET is a network of research councils and other national and regional research funding bodies in the EU. The network aims to strengthen collaboration and enable joint research initiatives. Through ERA-NET COFUND projects, national funding bodies in ERA-NET can receive EU funding for joint calls for proposals. Forte is a partner in two ERA-NET projects, providing Swedish researchers access to calls for proposals in the following networks:
NORFACE – Social and behavioural sciences research
The NORFACE network (New Opportunities for Research Funding Agency Co-operation in Europe) consists of a partnership of national research funding bodies from 16 European countries focusing on research in the social and behavioural sciences. Forte and the Swedish Research Council are Sweden’s representatives in NORFACE.
ERANID – Transnational research on illegal drugs
Forte is an associate partner in ERANID and participates in selected calls for proposals.
TO-REACH – preparing a research programme on healthcare systems
Forte participates in the European network TO-REACH. The network is working to prepare a joint research programme to increase the knowledge about healthcare systems, organisation and healthcare models. The research programme will contribute to healthcare systems and healthcare services being resilient, effective, equitable, accessible, sustainable, comprehensive. Through increased collaboration between funding agencies, TO-REACH wants to facilitate the implementation of the research programme. The TO-REACH network is a so called “coordination and support action” (CSA) within Horizon 2020.
